STEEL DETAIL / SHOP DRAWING EXAMPLE

Below are some images we have created to explain the different parts of a drawing on our title block. The modern approach to these drawings is that they are no longer necessary if all the features on them only require dimensional tolerance achievable by modern plasma cutters. In such cases, we provide .DXF files, which are used by profile cutting machines like laser or plasma cutters, along with assembly drawings that provide instructions on how to assemble the parts for the final product. This approach significantly reduces costs by eliminating work that exists primarily for historical reasons. Detail drawings are still created when different tolerances or manufacturing processes are required to produce a part.
